Sunflowers in Brisbane

There was a campaign in late 2010 to plant sunflowers so they would be ready to welcome children back to school in January 2011. I popped some seeds into the ground along my front fence, and on the first day of school the first sunflower opened its beautiful yellow petals.

The timing was more about good luck rather than my gardening skills, but here it is. Welcome back to school!
