Second-hand Book Shop on Bribie Island

Bribie Island Bridge at Twilight

I can never resist going into a second-hand book shop and when we visited Bribie Island a few days ago I discovered a new one.  Bribie is usually sunny and the type of place where you visit the beach, go fishing or have a picnic in the many waterside parks. With the unusually rainy weather we’ve been having this summer, Bribie was windy, grey and wet. This is good news for a book shop owner with holiday makers looking for a good book to curl up with.  When I visited there were other browsers taking shelter.

The shop is called Brewed Books and a few of the customers were in to buy coffee brewed by owner Jason Hayward.  He uses local Montville Coffee which is 100% fairtrade organic. There are comfy spots to sit and enjoy a coffee while you choose which book to buy. I ended up with an Anita Shreve novel – $8. Owner Jason’s favourite writer is James Clavell, the author of Shogun.

The bookshop is opposite the new Seaside Museum on South Esplanade, Bongaree.
